We have seven classrooms at Aurora House, with pupils from Reception to Year six.
Our younger learners are in Snowy Owl, Seal and Penguin Classes, with a focus on Early Years and Key Stage One learning, with a balance between providing a play based classroom, yet providing the structured learning environment that benefits pupils with autism. Our Key Stage Two learners are in Elk, Arctic Fox, Husky and Polar Bear classes, with a more structured approach, and more emphasis on independence. Each group has high staff ratios to support access to learning, and adults support pupils across the day to develop their social skills, teach emotional regulation strategies, and build communication abilities.
The classes are all supported closely by the Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist to ensure therapy is embedded across the curriculum.
